Feels Like Spring!

It was SO NICE OUT Sunday and Monday! I just wanted to stay out all day.

A perfect day for our rock smashing science experiment.

And lots of outdoor play.
Tuesday was a small music class with worry over coronavirus. But the boys totally came out of their shells with less kids and had a blast participating.

Then today we had to put back on the winter coats... but the sun still felt nice and we are trying to spend as much time outside as we can.

100 Day, Nice Weather and a Full Weekend

Friday was a day of school the girls have been looking forward to since... maybe day 5? 100 DAY!!!! They have been so excited that when 99 DAY! came and went and I sat down in the evening ready to take a break, I suddenly realized, "I have to do something for 100 day!" And it's times like these that I am so thankful for the internet!

100 day was a huge success.

And we got to visit the Tang Museum for a story time on the road, which added to the excitement of the day.

100 day was a great way to end the week and start an exciting weekend.

Yesterday the girls and I had girls afternoon. We went downtown to Creative Sparks to paint pottery and it was so nice to spend time with just the girls and our friends: a mom and just the girls. We will have to instate a monthly girls afternoon going forward.

Now that Daddy has a camera phone too, I can steal his photos and get a glimpse of what boys afternoon looked like.

Today was a birthday party where I face-painted. It was small and low key which was just the kind of party the girls are into, so everyone had a good time.

And now to take a break before another week...

My Birthday Week!

In other news, it was my birthday on Monday. We didn't celebrate much, though I was happy to have Gram come to visit to be here for my "big day". I did get some great summer sandals and this adorable "Happy Birthday Song," so I couldn't really ask for anything better.

We made it outside a bit this week, but otherwise I feel like we are sort of plodding along through winter... waiting on spring.

Therapy Pigs at the Museum

Today after church we had lunch in Glens Falls and went to the World Awareness Children's Museum for a therapy pigs event. It's not often you have a chance to meet a pig in a museum, so we couldn't pass it up.

The kids really enjoyed the museum for an hour or so while we waited for the pigs to arrive.

It wasn't quite the meet and greet we expected. I was thinking adorable pink pigs. These were neither. In fact they were fairly ugly and drooly. Their hair was wiry and they were very dandruffy. So... I wasn't overly impressed. I couldn't tell if the kids were disgusted or terrified, but we didn't last too long in the pig room. You win some, you lose some.

Could It Be That...

This social distancing is keeping us too busy?

With all kids home from school, all classes have moved to online platforms and there is a new plethora of free online educational goodies.

Before, we typically weren't bored and there many days where I struggled to fit everything into our day. Trying to add in all our virtual classes, lunch doodles, zoo safaris, pop-up classes, and get our regular school work done is actually making me a little crazy!

So we are continuing on, with plenty to keep us busy, and only missing our normal a little bit.

Here are the boys at "music" class:

A Taste of Spring

I could have stood out in the driveway watching the kids play "survivor" and basking in the sun for hours today. I probably stayed out at least an hour. It was the kind of day, after the winter we've had- especially with three weeks of being sick- that we so needed... and that makes me itch for spring. I love having the kids home with me because they were able to enjoy the day instead of sitting at a desk watching it out the window. They played outside before lunch and then after finishing a little school, spent the whole afternoon outside. It was so good for them!

Sadly, looking forward to cold rain, then snow, then temperatures back below freezing. But I will take our little break and remember it when we are shivering next weekend!
