West Side Rec

One of our favorite places to visit is the spray park at West Side Rec. With the newly renovated playground, splash pad, and plenty of shade to lie out blankets, there's always something for everyone to do.

Today we met some friends, but got there early, so we took a mini-trip over to the "other playground" by the bathroom which consists of big kids swings a metal truck and the awesome metal slides.

Back at the other side of the playground, now that BabySlimJim is walking, he was all about the splash pad.

It was a great morning playing and spending time with friends we don't see often enough!

Face Painting and the County Fair

Today we decided to check out the Saratoga County Fair.

I knew the girls would want their faces painted once they saw someone with face paint so we decided to save a little money and I painted them at home.

Once we got there LittleL.G. almost immediately fell asleep- it was hot and she wasn't super excited about walking through exhibits. While she napped, BabySlimJim enjoyed all the animals and tractor displays.

MiniM.E. did a 4H scavenger hunt, we met up with some friends, walked through an exotic petting zoo and saw some dance competition. It was a fun couple hours, but after walking around for a while in the heat, we needed a break and left to go out to dinner.

Some Indoor Fun

We have been spending a ton of time outside, which everyone loves. And we've been lucky this summer that we've had such nice weather. Thursday was drizzly and not so nice so we met some friends at an indoor gym in Ballston Spa called We Rock the Spectrum.

With a zip line, a trampoline, a carpet slide and tons of swings and things, the kids had a blast playing there for a few hours.

Then today we went to a birthday party at one of the kids' favorite indoor playgrounds, the Tree Paad.
Both girls rocked the rock climbing:

And who doesn't like pizza and cake?

This Guy

not sure about a photo session on the swings

not sure about this sand stuff

definitely not liking it in his eyes

but quickly fixed with a bath in the sink

because everything is fine as long as you can eat a collander

Back Home and Ready for "Summer"

We're back in NY.

MiniM.E. has a bucket list of places to go and things to see before the summer is over. It's lengthy and intimidating, but we'll do the best we can!

One of the places the girls have been dying to go is the splash park at Gavin Park, the playground by our house. We walk past it every time we got to the playground and the girls asked throughout the ten months of the year it was closed "WHEN will it OPEN?!?".

LittleL.G. hasn't really cared much for the splash park the past couple years because the water is cold and the spray can be intimidating for kids so short.

This year though, she had a blast. Even BabySlimJim had a good time (for a while, until he wanted to take his nap!).

A Much Needed Break!

After swimming on Friday we left for NH for a long weekend. I really just needed a break after all the swimming lessons and it's nice to be taken care of at my parents!

I really took a break from everything, so I just have a few photos of our time.

Mulfinger Summer Camp and an Epic Sleep Over

During the three weeks of swimming we have had "Mulfinger Summer Camp" Thursdays and Fridays at our house because one of MiniM.E.'s friends who also does swimming has a mom that works those days. I promised the girls that on the last Thursday A. could sleep over.

So after a great last day of lessons, a picnic, some playground time (and of course rest time for Mommy when we got home), we went out again for the epic pre-sleep over events.

First was a pre-dinner of ice cream from the Dairy Haus.

BabySlimJim had his first baby cone:

and the girls thoroughly enjoyed their ice cream too!

Next it was off to downtown for a ride on the carousel and a walk in the park before a camp out event at the library.

While we were on a walk to check out how the baby ducks were growing (they are mostly full grown now), we saw a great opportunity for a photo with a rainbow!

There was the obligatory stop to throw rocks in the stream.

And then we went to the library and had a blast at their camp out and came home for a late "dessert-dinner" of pizza.

Today at swimming it was Fun Friday, so the kids didn't actually have lessons, just a lot of fun and snacks.

Everyone is going to be tired tonight!

The Last of Swimming Lessons

We have really enjoyed swimming this year. We had great weather and the girls learned so much! Even BabySlimJim got a lot more comfortable in the water practicing his "swimming" in the baby pool.
