SLEEP OVER!

My kids hear, "sleepover" and think, "BEST TIME EEEVVVVER!!". We hear, "sleepover" and cringe... We can't even get our kids to go to sleep at night- why would we want to have to put other people's kids to bed too??

And yet, we keep having them. The girls just love it so much. So we hosted an extra four kids at our house- two just for the evening, and two over night. Despite the challenges of keeping eight kids alive near a tiny body of water and the sleep deprivation of today, it went well.

Now to get to bed!

A Happy Birthday, A School Bus and a Spray Park

One of the best things about having a great group of family friends is embarrassing a grown up on her birthday at the pool! Complete with banner, balloons, loud singing and birthday snacks!

This morning we went to ParkFest for a bit while we waited for the Gavin Park Spray Park to open. The kids got to ride a bus. Just the bus smell made me feel car sick- either from remembering my days on the bus or my more recent stints as a chaperone on preschool field trips, but for my homeschoolers, it was like the best playground in the universe! It was hot and sticky though, so we were thrilled when the spray park opened. The water was icy and my feet lost their feeling. I don't know how the kids were getting totally soaked, but they didn't get frostbite and seemed to be having a good time.

Lake Luzerne

We spent the day Saturday at Lake Luzerne. There is a beach that not many people know about and today there were only a few other families there.

We stayed far past lunch and stopped for ice cream on the way home. The highlight of the day was seeing horses that a family had ridden to there to get ice cream.

Happy Fourth of July!

Yesterday we started the morning at swim lessons.

Then Gram and Grumpy joined us and we all went to Brown's Beach for the evening to see the fireworks.

Today we went to the Peerless Pool and came back for a 4th of July BBQ!

The Start of Our Summer of Swim

Monday was the start of our "Summer of Swim"- day one of six weeks of swim lessons.

It was extra exciting because C. and H. are staying with us this week and H. is swimming with the girls.

It was a crazy morning getting five kids and two moms out of the house, and a little tricky figuring out our first day, but no one can complain about a morning at the pool and a picnic at the playground!

Yesterday afternoon after day two of swim, the big kids went to the Ninja gym and I took the little guys to a nearby playground.

It's always a good time with extra kids in the house.
