A Whirlwind Halloween Week

Sunday was a long day of Taekwondo tournament for MiniM.E. and housework to catch up on.

Monday we practiced taking a long walk to get our legs ready for trick or treating. It didn't last long.

The extracurricular Halloween festivities began with dress up for LittleL.G. at dance class.

And then we decided to be crazy and started the pumpkin carving AFTER dinner!

Tuesday SlimJim was a superhero all day until we had to get dressed up for music.

The girls have been staying with a friend so usually it's just the boys, but today our friends were sick so they came along. MiniM.E. was glad for another chance to dress up. LittleL.G. was not.

Right after music we booked it over to Daddy's work where they were having a family Halloween Festival. MORE FIRETRUCKS!!! AND MORE CANDY!!!

Finally the actual day arrived. All day it looked like it would be miserable for trick-or-treating. I tried my best to prepare the kids that it might be short lived. Somehow, we got super lucky and it only rained on us a few minutes. The weather really couldn't have been nicer- high 60s and balmy. It was like trick-or-treating in Florida. By far the nicest night I can remember ever trick-or-treating. It would have been nice to stay out all night, but little legs got tired and bags got heavy.

Mr.T. slept through the whole thing so he had plenty of energy for terrorizing the candy bags as the kids ate their fill when we got home.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween: Take One

We are gearing up for a crazy week of Halloween fun! Today began the festivities with the Fall Festival downtown. It was a great opportunity to do a trial run with the costumes. The weather was gorgeous- warm enough and sunny. The kids collected tons of candy and it was exciting to see all the other people dressed up for the occasion.

Laying Low

With all the excitement of birthdays behind us, everyone is a little let down getting back into the groove.

Mr.T. really isn't feeling well.

And maybe LittleL.G. wasn't 100% when she fell asleep on the couch.

Despite not feeling great, he still managed to learn to climb the stairs this week!

A Birthday Firetruck

We went to a fantastic four-year-old birthday party this weekend. The parents asked the local fire department if a firetruck would come by. Everyone expected a quick drive-by with lights and sirens, but the truck and firefighters stayed almost an hour and brought hats and activity packs and glow sticks and gave tours of the truck. MiniM.E. and LittleL.G. thought it was pretty cool, but SlimJim was in heaven!

Wild Center Homeschool Day

We drove to the Tupper Lake Wild Center yesterday for a free homeschool day. We were excited to go back after having a great time there with friends a couple years ago. We weren't sure what to expect with the free homeschool day, so when we learned that the center expected 1200 people for the day, we were pretty impressed! It was nice to see so many other families homeschooling their kids.

The weather held out for us after a week of forecasted rain, so we were able to explore all the outdoor exhibits and trails as well as spend time inside the museum.

We drove to Lake Placid to spend the night and had planned to explore the town today, but when we woke up to just above freezing temperatures, wind, and pouring rain mixed with snow, we decided to swim in the pool after breakfast and head home. After the week we've had we were all exhausted anyway! Looking forward to The Wild Center's next homeschool event!

The Last Day of Birthday

Today MiniM.E. and Daddy shared their birthday. The end of the birthday festivities. There were a few presents to open, but we mostly laid low after a big weekend. After the boys' music class we all met at a local brewery where Daddy got a free huge beer, we all ate pizza, and we surprised Daddy with his favorite cake.

A Birthday Surprise

Today the girls got their best birthday surprise. The doorbell rang and out on the front steps was a beautiful pile of presents. Then out popped Auntie Jen!

They were adorably understanding when I had to tell them that even though she lives closer now, she wouldn't be able to make it for their birthday. It was so lucky that it worked out that she could surprise them today.

We took her to Liberty Ridge Farm where the kids had such a great time, they never wanted to leave.
