Weekend Fun

We started our weekend with fun Friday when we made ice cream in a bag. It took a bit more work and was colder than the girls expected. And our cheap ziplocks made the ice cream a little too salty... but it was fun and tasty anyway.

Saturday we decided to check out Wilton's ParkFest. It was a bit like a mini county fair, with a few animals, some expensive rides, lots of food and pig racing.

Then Sunday we wanted to be by the water since it was so hot so we decided to check out the water park at the Great Escape.

And by Sunday night we were all exhausted!!

Happy Fourth of July

Yesterday we went to Brown's Beach to swim and see the fireworks with Gram and Grumpy. It worked out great for the kids because there was something to do while we waited. The water was warm and the girls loved swimming. BabySlimJim hadn't napped except for a few minutes in the car so he was challenging to keep happy.

And once the water closed for swimming the girls didn't seem to happy to wait either.
Nothing a little ice cream couldn't fix!

The fireworks show was pretty spectacular- we could see another fireworks show miles away over the lake so it was like a two-for-one. LittleL.G. fell asleep a few minutes in. But MiniM.E. and BabySlimJim thought they were great!

Today we took it easy (it was so hot!!) and played in the pool in the back yard and had a delicious BBQ.

Swimming Lessons Week Two

The heat wave really warmed things up for swimming this week!

Monday we brought a friend to play with us at the pool while the girls had lessons.

Both the girls did great during their lessons and jumped off the diving boards.

LittleL.G. is really doing well at her lesson and still loves it!

Just Being Silly

The First Week of Swimming

Ever since I mentioned swimming lessons months ago LittleL.G. has been adamant that she DOES NOT want to do them and that she will probably cry the whole time. I was a little apprehensive about how the first week would go. At least I know she likes the kiddie pool where she can play while MiniM.E. does her lesson first. 

The water was still cold and the weather wasn't exactly warm at the beginning of the week so the girls wore their wet suits.

As it turns out LittleL.G. LOVES her swimming lessons and was fortunate enough not to have to change instructors during the leveling days (which I think threw MiniM.E. for a loop her first year of lessons).

It was tricky to figure out what to do with BabySlimJim when we moved from the kiddie pool during MiniM.E.'s lesson to the grass next to LittleL.G.'s lesson, but thanks to Gram, a bucket and some toys seems to be the answer!

Of course MiniM.E. is thrilled to be swimming and jumped off the diving boards the first chance she got.

It took LittleL.G. a couple days to get up the courage to jump.

After the belt ceremony Thursday we drove to NH for the weekend to spend some time with Gram and Grumpy and swim in the pool and also because Gram got us tickets to see Raffi today!!

After the concert we had to head back to NY because swimming lessons start tomorrow!

Green Belt

MiniM.E. has been extremely motivated at Tae Kwon Do and has been so excited to progress to each new belt level. Yesterday was the ceremony where she received her green belt after passing her test last week.

We are so proud of you MiniM.E.! Keep it up!
