Lake Week: Day 6

This morning the kids had some cuddle time with Meamaw while Daddy and I got us ready to drive to Rochester to the Strong Museum of Play. MiniM.E. loved our day at the museum last year and we all couldn't wait to go back.

It was just as much fun as last year, but since the girls are a year older, it felt very different as they were interested in much different things than our last visit.

When we got back, it was time for dinner. Even though I expected everyone to be exhausted, MiniM.E. insisted on late night fishing with Daddy and caught a fish! Great end to a great day.

Lake Week: Day 4

It was a drizzly morning so we started the day with breakfast at Hunter's Diner. The weather was still pretty dismal on the way home, so we stopped at the Agriculture Museum down the road. To be honest, it didn't sound very exciting. The fact that it was free lowered our expectations even more. But it turned out to be pretty fantastic. Unlike most museums where everything is "look, don't touch", this one did a good job of presenting artifacts that the kids could interact with.

By the time we returned home, ate lunch and took a rest, the sun was shining and the girls were thrilled to play outside, even though it was a bit cool for swimming. I planned for a lot of downtime that would need fun activities, so the girls enjoyed magic chalk painting for a good chunk of the afternoon.

When that got old, we headed out to another nearby park.

More backyard playtime.

And a canoe ride to finish out the day.

Lake Week: Day 3

The girls have been great so far. It's little moments I stumble upon like this one that make my heart happy.

Today we decided to try out the beach. Unfortunately we were a bit early for the 11:00 opening, but thankfully there was a great playground to play at while we waited.

We had the whole beach to ourselves and everyone had a great time.

Lake Week: Day 2

The girls were up early today to do some fishing with daddy.

Then it was time for a swim. Turns out the water was a little chillier than these kids are used to. Glad we brought the wet suits!

Since LittleL.G. wasn't having the lake swimming, I broke out the mini water blobs and star sponges for some water fun on the lawn.

I guess I need water blob making practice, because they didn't last long... but the girls seemed to enjoy them before they leaked everywhere!
